South Beach, Miami at Night

South Beach at night

As the sun sets on the beautiful Art Deco historic district, the famous Ocean Drive heats up with the luxurious Latin beat of Miami Beach's famous South Beach stroll with cool tropical breezes, glamorously dressed people, exotic cars and neon lights.

This is the hot night club area of Miami, but also fun in the sun during the day,  great shopping and fabulous food. The Historic Preservation, tropical ambiance and international crowd gives it a special flavor like no other place.

On our Florida road trip, we loved our time at the charming Betsy Hotel which put us in the center of the action. We will be writing a review soon, but wanted families with kids to know that South Beach is a great destination for the whole family. It is a very walkable area which makes it very handy with kids.

Our tween thought it was the cat's meow and loved dolling up and walking along the beach under a full moon and people-watching along the many cafes, restaurants and clubs on Ocean Drive. Of course we had a ball during the day time, but we don't often have sophisticated vibrant night life on our world tour, so we all really enjoyed this surprise.

Have you been to South Beach? What was your favorite part?

I agree. South Beach is a great family destination. My daughter and I took an Italian friend and did a walking tour of the Art Deco district. Then capped off a perfect day with the best Cuban food I've ever tasted. I'm reliving our trip by painting a SoBe series.

South Beach Florida. What a wonderful place. I travel a lot myself but am somewhat landlocked in my adventures. However, in comparison to world travelers such as yourselves, the Florida coast is as close to paradise as we can get!

I was there for Halloween several years ago! My favorite part was staying in an old, decrepit hotel that was once 5 stars right on the beach, going out after dark and having the water WARM! (We don't get that in California!) Thought it was funny to have it raining outside, but when I bought an ice cream cone it melted before I could finish!
