Galicia often looks more like Scandinavia or Scotland than Spain and some of the beaches reminded me of the Caribbean. "Rias Bajas", "Rias Altas", such lovely sounding names for the fjord-like, shallow water ways which bring the Atlantic Ocean inland into Galicia, creating some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe.

In summer, this is truly one of the prettiest places on earth. There is just too much gorgeous coastline to catch it all, but we gave our best shot in the time we had. It is easy to forget that you are in Spain here, but it would be a great place for slow travel, even more so if you love sea food, beaches and boats. You can read more about some of the delights here, here and here.

We headed out from  La Coruna  towards Buno a town dedicated to pottery since Roman times. Then onto Malpica via Laxe and Puentesceso where it is a particularly beautiful area.  Onto Camarinas which has been dedicated to lacemaking since the 16th century, more fishing villages and coast until we hit the famous Finisterre. Carnota was next with its unique hats and we loved Muros with its Gothic-arched arcaded streets. Too many sights to name them all. As soon as we can we will update our map on this years travels.

Sometimes a picture is worth more than words. In order to try and catch this blog up to real time, I am going to do my best to do more posts that are short on words and heavy on pictures.( You have heard that one before, eh? ) Or maybe also some with less pictures. Perhaps several posts at a time if I can.

We will be adding more pictures to Flickr and Imagekind during our winter rest in Spain. We have so many great images of our travels that we have yet to get up. We know how we want our collection to look, now to only find the time to organize them all.

We must post every week now for the non profit, Reach The World, where we are taking classrooms of disadvantaged kids from NYC with us virtually. We will dedicate a day or two a week now to stop and write, so hopefully this will help us catch up with the blog as well.

Reach The World is a great cause, so we highly recommend that you donate to this award winning non-profit to support their important work. Please tell them that Soultravelers3 sent you! It is also a great resource for  you homeschoolers out there.
