Salvator Dali Art: Spain Travel
September 07, 2011
If you travel to Barcelona, Costa Brava or northern Spain, you really must not miss the amazing Salvador Dali Museum as well as his house and his wife's castle museum ( Casa-Museu Castell Gala Dali). They are called the Dali triangle and even if you are not a fan of Dali you will find them very rewarding. The main museum is one of the best in the world.
They are also family friendly places that will appeal to the whole family as kids tend to adore Dali as his surrealism tends to be wild, wacky and fun, while also being educational. The nature surrounding this area is also very beautiful.
As an artist, DaVinci loved these black and white sketches as it shows just how well trained in art that Dali is no matter how far he takes things. Have you been to any of the Dali Museums or are they on your list?

I visited the Dali museum in Figueras when I lived in nearby Estartit on the Costa Brava. I had studied Dali during my A-levels in school, but to see his works in the flesh was awe-inspiring! Hope to take my daughter some day.

It is amazing to see how much the costa brava region Dali has used in his works. We have a magazine article on all the spots Dali used as an inspiration for some of his greatest works. It is fun to look at his art and then use the photos from the article to do sightseeing. Our kids 6 and 9 love dali's "fantastic" world. Who else has a polar bear lamp in his hallway, a fun echoroom lounge or a finger chessboard ......Kids are open to almost anything you show them, tell them about history, art or....Our kids always ask for more stories while traveling. For them it is not teaching but it is fun storytelling and we know they will remember.
Happy travels

These are all wonderful destinations for Dali fans in Barcelona, but I would also recommend the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, which has the largest collection of Dali's works in the world!
