Exploring Colorful Asia

August 24, 2012

IMG_5275

The bright colors of Asia...lots of red combined with yellow, azure, green, white, orange against a rustic background under the tropical sun, Mandarin characters written everywhere, are all part of what attracts us to this area of the world.  UNESCO Heritage Site, Penang or Pearl of the Orient, is considered one of the most beautiful destinations in Southeast Asia with it's magnificent, unique architecture and rich history.

This sign was taken at the Chew Jetty which is part of the historical Clan jetties in Weld Quay, or floating homes in  a village built on stilts that are  over a century old. They were built by Chinese imigrant clans from the Fukien Province in China and the 1500 decendents still uphold most of the traditional lifestyles and cultures. Fascinating and charming area!

What attracts you to travel to an area?

I love the sign in this photo. Asia is such an incredible place to visit. I just adore it!

You asked what attracts us to visit a place... I used to have a list that I worked my way through. A few years ago I had an epiphany when I realized that every place has something to offer and I'm going to try to get to as many of them as I can. I certainly get itchy feet staying at home too long!

Thanks for sharing :)
