Italy in Autumn

August 20, 2012

Visiting Italy in the fall

The early fall is a wonderful time to visit Italy, as the summer high season crowds have thinned considerably, along with the high prices and the cooler temperatures make it easier to tour. The food is always delicious, but autumn foods like mushrooms and truffles, add to the delight.

We took this photo of a freshly mowed wheat field on one of European road trips around Italy. Simple vistas like this give me as much pleasure as museums and iconic sites like the leaning tower of Piza.

Don't wait too late though, we ran into snow in October in Florence, which greatly surpised us. For us, motorhoming in an RV, that means time to head south to Andalusia for the winter.
