Dallas Luxury Resort - "Big D" Arrival in Style!
February 20, 2014
A luxury resort getaway on our winter road trip through the Southwest from California ( via Asia), sounded like the perfect way to arrive in style to Dallas, other wise known as "Big D".
We had never been to Dallas and knew no one, yet we had quickly and unexpectedly decided to make it our USA extended-stay base for a few months on our world tour, primarily for Mozart's homeschool/worldschool needs and pending TV travel show.
What could be better than beginning it in luxury at the amazing Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas who sponsored our stay?
After a long road trip, it was great to take three nights just to relax, rejuvenate, get a feel for Dallas and hunt down the perfect place to base here from this unique, luxurious resort.
Between Santa Fe and Dallas, we'd spent the night in a motel in the middle of no where on the highway and woke up with a nail in our tire.
Bummer! But looking deeper, we saw it was a blessing, because we found it before we drove off and our motel, (sitting between two churches), happened to have a tire repair shop just a few blocks away.
Nevertheless, that adventure and delay, made it especially nice to arrive to such comfort and southern hospitality in our new city.
Dallas was a surprise to us and Mozart said it reminded her of Beijing and the downtown does indeed have similarities to the CBD of that Chinese city.
Our favorite thing in downtown Dallas was the Perot Museum, perfect to add some homeschool science for our new teen, and I will be writing more details about that soon.
It goes without saying that our room was divine
and is there anything better than starting the day with a delectable room service breakfast made with healthy food we can eat?
( Note all the vitamin pill bottles in the photo which makes traveling with a health challenge cumbersome to say the least, more so on a road trip, but working on our healing jouney is so worth it.)
Maybe doing it outside overlooking the award-winning 18th hole from our terrace on a gorgeous winters day!
The weather was sunny and in the seventies in January when we were there. Not quite warm enough to dip into the spectacular 5,500-square-foot (511-square-metre) outdoor pool, but it added to the ambience and there was no lack of things to do..including the indoor pool.
Mozart enjoyed the shuttle by golf cart around the 400 acre resort...a new way to travel!
Swimming in the huge, 75-foot (23-metre) indoor warm saltwater pool was a blast for Mozart.
She also truly adored her tennis lesson and playing with her dad at the awesome tennis facilities here which includes four climate-controlled indoor hard courts and eight outdoor hard courts! Mozart has been a tennis fan since she started lessons in Portugal at seven.
Taking a golf lesson with golf pro Tim Cusick was a real treat. Something her 86 year old traveling Grandma would deeply approve of as she is still golfing regularly and quite the golf fanatic.
The state-of-the-art fitness center was gigantic, bigger than I have ever seen at a resort, including an indoor and an outdoor jogging track that Mozart had to try out.
For the often over-worked mom, moi, the sublime spa and getting a steamed towel massage was pure bliss and badly needed after so much fast travel and moving from Asia intensity.
We also really enjoyed the mother-daughter bonding time together at the spa. I love saunas and they had the biggest one I have ever seen!
They had hot tubs, cold pools, steam rooms, exotic showers with hydrotherapy coming from every direction, healing herbal teas, great service and more.Nothing like healing water to refresh, pamper and revitalize.
Perhaps one of the best pleasures is just hanging out together in these lavish surroundings, brain-storming ideas for upcoming plans, cuddling and laughing together.
What a fantastic way to arrive in a new city!
