Why I Won't Visit Austria Again
October 09, 2014
We have visited many beautiful sights in Europe and went to Austria twice for extended travel around this lovely country,
including Salzburg where we celebrated Mozart's 7th birthday, gorgeous Hallstatt, loved autumn in the Alps, Vienna and it's music, Austrian wine country along the Danube, Melk which has one of the prettiest churches in the world, Graz and more.
MORE GEMS IN AUSTRIA
ALPINE POSTCARD DREAMS
SOUND OF MUSIC TOUR
MOZART MANIA AND CHOCOLATE
FAMILY TRAVEL AUSTRIA
SUMPTUOUS SCHONBRUNN
AUSTRIA CASTLE
ADORABLE VIENNA TIEGARDEN ZOO - OLDEST IN THE WORLD
Thus, it is certainly not because we did not like Austria that will keep us from returning. Luckily, we have seen most of the country quite thoroughly.
Alas, I am still recovering from the bike wreck I had on the Danube in Austria where I broke and paralyzed my right arm for over a year and needed surgery which turned me into a bionic worman and it was VERY painful and a long healing process.
I am grateful for the good doctors who took care of me as I certainly could have landed in a worse spot, but the antibiotics given to me there, started my spiral into a severe digestion and chronic fatigue illness that I am just now slowly recovering from on my healing journey.
It is just no fun going to hospitals and riding in ambulances and almost dying in foreign lands, no matter lovely the country. English is quite rare in Austria and I speak no German. I almost bled to death on my first visit to Austria, so when I ended up in the hospital AGAIN, my second time, we decided no more Austria for us.
Maybe it was all just crazy coincidence, but I just don't want to chance it again! Is there a country that you will not visit again?

How unfortunate! Hope you are healing well and recovering from the pain of your bike accident.
I too had a bad bicycle accident in Austria in 1997- on a flat road - just distracted by the scenery-360 deg in the air over the front handles and thud onto the ground- And I am an experienced cycler! Bruised and bleeding lungs, and grazes, my jaw was also dislocated as it copped the full brunt of the fall. I went to an Austrian hospital for treatment and xrays. So very painful - I remember feeling sore and vulnerable and wanted to go back home at the beginning of a 4 month long holiday. I was in shock for a while. I was also on a 3 week tour so had to keep up with the others or miss the tour. To this day I still have a clicking jaw and pain in the joint. That was the last time I ever went to Austria! I plan to return again, however, will be ultra careful!

I've only been to two countries that I will never go to again. Those would be Kuwait and Iraq.
