Are you carving a pumpkin this weekend? Traditions make holidays fun and it’s quite amazing how the traditons about Halloween seem to keep spreading around the world. We’ve seen it in Bora Bora, Italy and now in Southeast Asia. This is a holiday weekend in Malaysia ( Eid al-Adha or Hari Raya Haji ) but even here there was a pumpkin carving contest at one of the local malls.

This photo is the pumkin DaVinci and Mozart carved last year at our special Halloween in California. This year our minds are more on finals, singing contests and heading out to China soon, but we’ll find some way to celebrate.

Have you heard of the Jack O’ Lantern story? There are actually two versions of it. But the point is, jack was able to trick the devil but ended up not going to heaven or hell instead.
we were invited for “trick or treating” and a party in the expat neighborhood . We live in a compound where we are basically the only western family so now Halloween celebrations at our compound.
I haven’t heard the story Alex, but it is funny how these traditions start.
