Kids Love Vineyards and Wine Tasting!
January 11, 2012
Do you love wine and wine tasting? You might be surprised about how much your kids will love a wine vacation!
"Wine is constant proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy" Benjamin Franklin
We have been exposing our daughter Mozart to vineyards and wine tasting from around the world since she was a few months old and she has loved it at every age. Here she is running through our Pinot Noir vineyard at two on a sunny spring day. Just like organic gardening and picking fruit in orchards, we value learning about nature up close and personal.
This video we took of our family wine vacation in Bordeaux, France gives you some idea of the fun that one can have together as a family. Biking through beautiful French Vineyards, swimming, tasting in caves, eating in charming French locations, countryside picnics, meeting French kids that live on vineyards, learning about science through wine making are just a few of the perks that please parents and kids. Here is another video we took a different year on a wine vacation in Alsace at harvest time. It was also easy for us to stick to our $23 dollar a day per person budget in both places.
We parents are actually not big wine drinkers, but we love the soulful aesthetics of beautiful vineyards that we have visited around the world. Here are a few:
Santorini Wine And Vineyards
Route des Grand Crus!
Wine Roads Europe
Best Barcelona Cava Cave
Vineyards in Sirince, Turkey
Sherry Tasting in Spain with 3 generations of family
Vineyards are perfect for running, caves are exciting to explore and most wine tasting rooms have juice for kids to drink in wine glasses while parents taste. Have you ever tried wine tasting wih kids?

Love love wine tasting. We do tons of it with my baby and 7 year old, do it at home. since there is only one winery in all of central america, and we've been there.

Coolio Marina! I never would have expected it to be such a fun family activity, but it has been for us. ;)Good "world schooling" activity too as lots to learn!

Two years ago we stayed for a few days at a vineyard in Heidelberg, Germany, with the kids. They loved running up and down the vineyard, and we could wine taste in the cellar while they were up in the room!

Sounds like fun Sonja! We loved Heidelberg too! Isn't it amazing how kids adore running up and down vineyards?

Sounds like a great way for everyone to have a good time! The kids get to run around outside and enjoy being in the vineyard, while the parents get to try some delicious wine. Definitely a cool family outing.

hi there,
I just want to say that I am so inspired to have found your blog now. I almost wish such a thing had been aroudn for me to find 30 yrs ago...but anyway, it's perfect now too. I have FIVE children ( best fun I ever had) and they are 19-29. Recently, I asked them "where in the world do you want to meet me for an adventure?" and this has led to the tying in of SOO many long-standing dreams and desires. Also, as a professional musician/singer/songwriter, I really related to your daughter playing in all those places...and I already have some lined up for when I hit the WIDE road SOON.
One question I had was regarding whether to wander indefinitely or keep my rental beach house. I feel totally satisfied that i can let it go now...I have no idea how long I will go and as this is my 50th year, and I feel great...i don't want to limit ANYThing!
thank you for your inspiration and keep an eye for my "Where in the World?" blog
Lisa IN oz( Australia)...well, one toe still is!!

Beautiful place! I know my child will surely love a vineyard visit. I'm not too sure about actual wine tasting though.
