Looking for the best European vacation with kids? As I mentioned recently in Best Places to Visit in Europe, you’ll love Croatia which is very enchanting, diverse, beautiful, rich in history with lots of fun possibilities for family travel. We fell so in love with Dubrovnik, that we ended up staying over a month. Croatia is ideal for slow travel.

Croatian island hopping is also a great way to see this magnificent country. We even ended up making a Japanese film in Croatia which was quite a unique experience we’ll never forget, including meeting the well known Japanese film star Maako.
We’ve walked some amazing city walls on our 8 years long non-stop family world trip, from Rothenburg ob der
Tauber in Germany to Xian in China…and loved them all, but perhaps the one in Dubrovnik was our most favorite.
The rest of Croatia is as majestic as Dubrovnik, so don’t miss the exquisite Dalmation Coast, romantic Rovinj or Plitvice Park as well as nearby Montenegro and the Kotar Riviera.

Beautiful pictures. I would love to check out Croatia. It seems to have been getting a lot more popular over the past few years and I can see why!
Thanks Arianwen…happy you enjoyed the photos! Croatia is such a photographers dream spot and I think it IS becoming more and more popular…especially with Europeans in high season or with cruise ship stops at Dubrovnik.
Lots of pristine beauty there..especially off the beaten path…so lovely spot for slow travel and deeper explorations.
It has been a travel destination for decades…but still new to many…especially Americans.
